Brand-new business hotel on redeveloped wharf
The Cologne branch of this Sofitel-like chain opens March 2010 in the redeveloped Rheinauhaufen, the former port near the Severinsbrucke (bridge) south of the old city. Like Sofitel, the Art'otels, part of the Park Plaza group, are a lot more stylish than their U.S. equivalents, but still business hotels. They're distinguished by commissions by global artists: Cologne's has works by Korean artist SEO (while Berlin City-Center West gets Andy Warhol). Free Wi-Fi in the 218 rooms, business services, on-site dining and meeting facilities. Onsite Chino Latino restaurant serves up Asian-fusion cuisine. Rooms from 102 euros nightly, single or double. US toll-free reservations.
